India is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world for a very good reason. With booming culture, gorgeous landscapes, and of course, delicious food, it’s no wonder why you wouldn’t want to go there to have the adventure of a lifetime. However, in order to have a successful trip, you’ll need to make sure that you bring the right items. Forget them, and it could affect your overall experience. Take a look at some of the essentials that you should absolutely put in your bag.

Appropriate Clothing

Depending on the time of year, India can get as hot as 117 degrees Fahrenheit. So, if you’re going during the warmer months of the year, it’s important that you bring light clothing like comfortable T-shirts and breathable fabrics. However, other parts of India can get quite cold in the winter, so make sure that you have exactly what you need to keep your body at the right temperature.

Power Adapter

Assuming that you want to be able to charge your phone, laptop, or any other device that you brought to India, it’s essential that you have the right charging cable. A power adapter is the simplest way to make sure that your devices can be charged while on your trip.  Just make sure that you choose a good brand. All it takes is a power surge to ruin one of your favorite devices in India.

Travel Insurance

Travel experts recommend always traveling with travel insurance, however, India is one of those places where you should especially make sure that you’re equipped with travel insurance.  All kinds of things can go wrong, particularly theft. Because of the unfortunate amount of poverty in India, it’s not uncommon for tourists to be robbed. An unexpected robbery can leave your entire trip ruined, so make sure that you have travel insurance to cover anything you might need in an emergency.

Toilet Paper

This might sound unusual to you, but a lot of India doesn’t use toilet paper. They go to the bathroom the old-fashioned way— over a squat toilet and clean themselves either with a waterjet or even a bucket of water in some places. Even though this might seem bizarre compared to what you’re used to, the truth is that it can be much more effective than toilet paper. However, a lot of tourists don’t like to stray from what they’ve used for their entire lives. So, it’s probably in your best interest to always carry a bit of toilet paper with you. Whether you decide to bring a traditional dry roll of toilet paper, or portable wet wipes, you’ll be thankful you have it when it comes time to “go.”
